Audition at Coker!
Are you interested in applying for a visual and performing arts scholarship at Coker University? Check out our audition days, select the program you’re interested in, follow the instructions, and submit your audition!

How to audition on campus:

Make sure to apply to Coker University as a traditional undergraduate student, and fill out your FAFSA. You can audition before you submit your application, however we will not be able to determine your eligibility for Coker University and scholarships until we receive your application and FAFSA.

Virtual Portfolio Review
Prospective students auditioning for art may complete the requirements through online submissions:

- Upload high-resolution photos of 10-15 original works of art in as many media as possible.

On-Campus Audition Dates

Dance Scholarship Audition Requirements
Students interested in talent-based and dance scholarships in dance must complete the following requirements:- Complete your audition registration
- Learn the dance phrases in these videos. Submit a video yourself performing these phrases.
- Prepare a video of yourself performing a dance solo in any style for 2-3 minutes.
Note: Scholarship amounts may not be awarded until you have completed your Coker Application and FAFSA. - For questions about audition submissions, please contact Meredith Sims.

April 12Music Scholarship Audition Requirements
The following items will need to be prepared based on degree-track:- Voice – Live or Pre-Recorded Audition Requirements
- Two songs that are:
- In contrasting styles
- Sung from memory
- Demonstrative of your range and ability
- From periods or styles that affirm your previous musical and cultural experiences (may include but are not limited to: classical, gospel, musical theatre, etc.)
- Performed with or without accompaniment (recorded accompaniments are allowed for pre-recorded auditions only)
- Two songs that are:
- Instrumental – Video Audition Requirements
- Two or three works from contrasting style periods from the standard repertoire for your instrument
- Pieces may include complete works or individual movements from larger works
- Should be performed without accompaniment for the audition
- Piano/organ auditionees should perform one of the pieces from memory
- All major, minor, and chromatic scales

April 12Theatre Scholarship Audition Requirements, Register Here!
Students interested in talent based scholarships in theatre must complete the following requirements:- B.A. in Theatre, Performance Concentration
- Two 60 second monologues in contrasting styles (Classical/Contemporary; Dramatic/Comedic)
- All monologues should be memorized.
- Please also bring your audition book with other materials (headshot/resume), if you have them.
- B.A. in Theatre, Musical Theatre Concentration
- One 60-second monologue and 32 bars of one musical theatre song (monologue and song should contrast) Both monologue and song must be memorized.
- Please also bring your audition book with other materials (headshot/resume), if you have them
- B.A. in Theatre, Tech/Design Concentration
- Resumé and Portfolio – Production photos, SM book, Design/Process photos with descriptions
- B.A. in Theatre, Playwriting Concentration
- Sample of playwriting – 10 minute Play, scene(s), monologues, commercials, TV spot, Film script.
These auditions can be sent via
- uploaded video
- an emailed YouTube link
- an in-person scheduled audition.
- If you need an accompanist for in-person musical theatre auditions, please provide us with the titles (and/or copies) of your song two weeks before the audition date.
If you are sending a video or link, you can sing along with karaoke or recorded tracks or live piano, but you must not sing acapella. The Theatre Program does not require an audition for entrance into any degree tracks.
